Why Seascale

Seascale is working toward practical tools that ocean communities can understand, adapt, and keep using, starting with concept work in the Coral Triangle.

The problem Seascale is addressing

Many coastal tools disappear after the first grant, taking field knowledge, records, and local confidence with them. Seascale focuses on the work required for continuity: field review, training, language access, maintenance, and clear responsibility.

The operating principles

  • Begin with a community-defined need and local authority to review it.
  • Keep concept status, safeguards, and evidence visible to the public.
  • Fund the training, translation, repairs, and stewardship that help useful work last.
